FREE SPEECH AND LANGUAGE SCREENINGS
If you have concerns about your child's communication skills but are not sure if your child would benefit from speech and language therapy, start with a free screening. A screening is a quick picture of your child's communication skills. A screening helps determine if a comprehensive evaluation is recommended for your child.
EXPRESSIVE LANGAUGE THERAPY
Expressive language therapy focuses on the child's ability to express their thoughts, ideas, wants/needs, and feelings through spoken communication or writing.
PRAGMATIC (SOCIAL) THERAPY
SPEECH AND LANGUAGE EVALUATION
A comprehensive speech language is an assessment of your child's articulation (speech sound production) and receptive language, expressive language, and pragmatic (social) language skills. An evaluation helps determine if your child has a speech and/or language delay or disorder and shows the strengths and weaknesses of your child's communication skills.
Pragmatic therapy addresses the use of social language and how the child interacts with others. This includes conversational turn taking, functional communication, etc.
AUGMENTATIVE COMMUNICATION THERAPY
Augmentative and alternative communication therapy (AAC) focuses on multimodal communication methods to support, enhance, or supplement an individuals communication who may not be able to verbally communicate.
FLUENCY EVALUATION
A fluency evaluation assesses the frequency and types of speech dysfluencies that your child may produce and how your child reacts and copes with the dysfluencies.
FLUENCY / STUTTERING THERAPY
Fluency therapy focuses on the smoothness with which sounds, words and phrases are expressed verbally.
ARTICULATION/PHONOLOGY THERAPY
Articulation therapy addresses the way we produce speech sounds. Phonology therapy addresses the patterns we use to produce sounds. This type of therapy addresses sound substitutions ("tat" for "cat"), sound omissions ("tee" for "tree"), sound distortions (example: lisps), and sound additions.
PARENT COACHING
Parent coaching involves educating the parent or caregiver through the use of speech therapy strategies to further support the child's speech and language development in the child's natural environment.
